I’m very excited to offer you a little sneak peek of the new pieces I’ve been working on for the EUNIQUE design fair 2017. For more information on this annual art & design show in Karlsruhe, Germany, have a look at
Come visit me at booth D58 in the DM-Arena, Friday the 19th of May until Sunday the 21st from 11:00 to 19:00 daily. I’ll be presenting a collection of selected pieces, most of which were made in the last few months in my new studio in Berlin.
Themes that surface in my work repeatedly at the moment circle around flying, flight, flocking and migration, together with an investigation of boundaries and borders. I ask myself what borders are made of (a grey, fuzzy substance perhaps, something in between a solid and a gas?) and what their characteristics are (porous, organic, holey, membrane-like? Perhaps also absorbing their surroundings? (you see I like biology…)) and how people and ideas interact with boundaries (permeating & penetrating them, building & nurturing them, fearing them, searching for them, needing them?). These thoughts on the side-lines are crystallized into a unique visual language that manifests itself in perforated, organic silver and enamelled shapes, patterns of repetition and delicious clusters of pearls and gemstones.
