 The Fearsifter is essentially a wearable fear management tool.

It’s a reminder: Our fears are often muddled and messy and vague, so the simple act of taking this fear, sifting it mentally to discover the essence of it amidst all the muck, and examining that fear nugget closely is often enough. Sometimes we’re so afraid of our own fears that we don’t even look them in the eye. So the fear of the fear becomes a problem.

 What does fear look like under a microscope, I wonder? What if fear is made up of fear molecules, small entities that cluster together and form fear colonies, little bitter-tasting blobs of reptilian brain response. Maybe these fear colonies thrive best in a muddy, algae-rich and opaque environment, clouded by vagueness and unspecific unnameable negative feelings. What if we could have a tool to – at least in a pretend game – sift away the sticky goo and unearth something inside that may tell us more about ourselves.
